Description
Bradfield Hall is a house built in 1857 for Arthur Young, J.P. It features an asymmetrical design in the Victorian Gothic style and consists of two storeys, partly with attics. The exterior is made of knapped flint, accented with bands and quoins of red brick, and has Flemish parapet gables. The roofs are covered with plain tiles and have red brick chimneys, which include single, double, and quadruple circular shafts with heavy moulded caps and bases set on square plinths. The tall casement windows have flat arched heads and chamfered reveals. A notable feature is a circular corner turret topped with a conical roof. The entrance porch is two storeys high and has a parapet gable, with a hood-moulded arched doorway that includes a moulded panelled door and a splayed oriel above supported by brick corbelling. To the north and west of the house, there is a paved terrace with knapped flint retaining walls and arcaded balustrading made of red brick. The house is located immediately east of the moated site of the medieval Bradfield Hall.
