Description
The bridge and gateway, built around 1850, are located 150 yards south of Hengrave Hall. The bridge is faced with limestone and features two pointed arches and three buttresses on each side, along with low parapet walls. At the south end, the bridge connects to a pair of octagonal limestone piers topped with onion finials on a crenellated cornice. These piers support wrought iron gates with spear-head standards. The flanking stone wall ends with a second pair of piers. This bridge once served as the main drive across the moat to Hengrave Hall and replaces an earlier bridge that was on the same site.
