Description
The Lodge is the eastern gate lodge to Hengrave Hall, built in 1848 and designed in the Gothic style. It is a single-storey structure with two windows. The walls are made of Gault brick, featuring limestone dressings and coped gables with kneelers. The roof is covered with fish-scale tiles and has red brick chimneys topped with circular shafts that display diaper decoration, along with moulded caps and bases. The windows are limestone mullioned and transomed, equipped with hood-moulds, arched headed lights, and leaded casements. To the right of the entrance is a splayed bay window with a crenellated parapet and hood-moulds. The entrance features a gabled porch with a hood-moulded panelled door that has nail-head decoration. Above the door is a plaque displaying the arms of Thomas Gage.
