Description
The Stable Block, located 200 meters northeast of Lanwades Hall, was built around 1907 and serves as stables with a loft and grooms' quarters above. It consists of three ranges surrounding a courtyard, with a wall enclosing the fourth side. The central range features a coach house for three coaches, flanked by stables on either side. Each wing contains two additional stables with haylofts above. The building is constructed of red brick and has parapet gables, with plaintiled roofs that include open eaves and flat-roofed dormers for the lofts. It has four-light windows with flat arches made of gauged brick and leaded lights. The stable doors are framed and boarded, complete with fanlights above. Above the coach house, there are three projecting tile-hung gables supported by timber posts at the front. A central clock tower, clad in copper and topped with a cupola on eight columns, houses a bell and is adorned with a weathervane. This structure is included for its group value with Lanwades Hall.
