Description
The Church of St Mary is a Grade II* listed building located on The Street in Poslingford. It is primarily a 13th and 14th-century church constructed of random flint with stone dressings, although it contains some remains from the 12th century. Notable features include a fine south doorway with one order of shafts and scalloped capitals, as well as a semi-circular tympanum that is intricately carved with an interlacing pattern of stars and rosettes. The jambs of the north door and a slit window in the north wall of the nave also date back to this period. The chancel features late 13th-century windows. A 16th-century south porch made of red brick has a crow-stepped gable and three niches above the entrance. The nave is from the 14th century and has a tiled roof. Inside, there is a restored 15th-century rood screen and a plain square font from the 12th century, which was restored in 1882.
