Description
The stable and coach-house block, located 80 metres east of Coldham Hall, was built in 1871, as indicated by a tablet in the gable. It originally consisted of two ranges of five stalls each, along with two loose boxes and a coach-house, and provided accommodation for grooms at the south end and above. The structure is made of red brick and features crow-stepped parapet gables and dentil eaves made of gault brick, topped with a pantiled roof.
The original coach-house doorway has an arched head made of gauged red brick, a pair of boarded doors, and a fanlight with leaded glazing. A second doorway, rebuilt around 1980, is wider and has an elliptical arched head. Smaller doorways also feature gauged brick arches and boarded doors with sub-divided fanlights. Flanking the building are 2-light windows with gauged brick flat arches and small-pane casements. One range of five stalls remains intact. This building is included for its group value with Coldham Hall.
