Description
Oak House, formerly known as the Royal Oak Inn, is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house, with weatherboarding on the gable ends. A plastered 18th-century brick wall extends from the southeast end, featuring a moulded brick capping that sweeps up. The building has two storeys and cellars, with a two-window range on the front, showcasing 18th-century double-hung sash windows with glazing bars in cased frames. The ground storey includes a three-light canted bay window. The gable end features casement windows with lattice leaded lights. At the rear, there is a 20th-century addition. Inside, the house displays exposed timber-framing and includes a 17th-century brick vaulted cellar. Oak House is part of a group that includes Honeysuckle Cottage, White Cottage, Meadow Cottage, and Hill Rise.
