Description
Orme House is a house built around 1830-1840. It is constructed from roughcast clay lump and white brick, topped with a hipped slate roof. This two-storey villa features a symmetrical roughcast facade with three bays. The central entrance includes a six raised panelled door with a traceried rectangular fanlight above it. The doorcase is adorned with fluted half columns and an entablature that has a projecting cornice. The outer jambs are uniquely blocked in a stylized version of a Gibbs surround. The six-over-six pane flush frame sashes have a similar architectural treatment on their architraves. The house has raised quoining at the ends and a mutuled eaves cornice. The stacks on the sides also feature raised quoining. The returns and rear of the house are made of white brick and include casement windows with three lights and segmental heads on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
