Description

Catchpole Memorial is a headstone located about 15 meters south of the Church of St. Peter. It commemorates J. Catchpole, who died in 1787. The memorial is a stone slab approximately 1.5 meters high with a cambered top. The front features a low relief panel showing a wagon pulled by a team of six horses. Below this image, there is an inscription that reads: "My Horses have done Running/My Waggon is Decayed/And now in the Dust by Body is layd/My whip is worn out and my work It is done/And now I'm brought here to my last home." The memorial is listed for its historic interest.
