Description

Fasbourn Hall is an early 17th-century farmhouse, originally a manor house, with significant 19th-century alterations and a possible earlier core. The building is constructed of red brick, with a moulded band at first-floor level. It has plaintiled roofs; the original crosswing section has a hipped roof, and a gabled 19th-century dormer is present with a 20th-century casement window. An axial red brick chimney from the 17th century features a square shaft with pilasters on each face and an original cornice of moulded brick. The windows are small-pane sashes, some dating to the early 19th century, but most were renewed around 1980 with PVC sashes and casements. The original main range was truncated and remodelled in the mid to late 19th century. A prominent timber-framed porch, dating from circa 1900, provides the main entrance and contains a pair of glazed panelled doors.

Attached to the right is a late 19th-century greenhouse, to which is connected a 17th or 18th-century garden wall constructed of red brick. The wall is approximately 2 meters high and features a sawtooth course beneath moulded terracotta copings. It extends roughly 20 meters southeastwards from the eastern corner of the hall. This building has group value due to its architectural and historical significance.
