Description
Rudlands is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a former plaster date of 1721, which likely marks its construction date. It has a three-cell plan and is one storey high with attics. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof featuring a central red brick chimney. There is one eyebrow casement dormer, a 19th-century small-pane casement window, and a 20th-century flat-roofed splayed bay window. The entrance door is boarded and dates from the 19th or 20th century. Inside, the 18th-century framing is fully exposed, showcasing primary-braced studding. The house also incorporates a significant number of 16th-century components, including chamfered large floor joists in the service cell to the right. In 19 Henry VIII, the tenement was granted by Walter Copinger to Andreas Ellyce.
