Description
White House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with later alterations and an 18th-century wing added to the rear. The building is timber framed, with parts that are plastered and others that have been cased or rebuilt in red brick. It features a plaintiled roof and has two storeys plus an attic, arranged in a three-cell form. The windows are mid-20th century casements, and the entrance door is a boarded and battened style from the same period. Inside, the structure has been modernised, although much of it remains exposed and somewhat altered. Notable features include ovolo-moulded bridging beams in the hall and parlour, and chamfered joists in the hall. The gable end wall at the service end displays heavy reversed bracing, which is the only visible bracing in the house. The current stack appears to have been added later.
