Description

Little Thatch is a late 18th-century house that has been altered and extended in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with roughcast rendering and has a thatched roof. The house originally comprised two rooms with an external stack at one end. It is a single storey with an attic. The front has a slightly projecting plinth and a central 20th-century gabled porch containing the entrance. Flanking the entrance are three-light sash windows with glazing bars. There are two two-light gabled dormers in the roof. A stack is slightly extruded at the left end and has a rebuilt cap. The right end of the roof has exposed plates and purlins. A 20th-century extension projects from the rear of the house. The interior features timber of substantial size, likely recycled from the demolition of Westhorpe Hall around 1764. Original features include through tension bracing, stop-chamfered cross axial binding beams, joists, storey posts.
