Description

This is a late 17th or early 18th century house, which was later used as a shop, and has been altered in the 19th century and extended in the 20th. Constructed of timber frame, it is plastered with some brick casing, and has a thatched roof. The house originally had a 3-bay, 2-cell lobby entry plan. It is one storey with an attic. The central entrance is now within a 20th-century tiled porch. To the left is a former 12-pane shop window and a blocked entrance, and to the right a 18th-century 9-pane part opening casement window with hoodboards. There are two 2-light gabled dormers in the roof. An axial ridge stack, partially rebuilt, is slightly to the left of centre. The gable ends have exposed plates and purlins, with 20th-century brickwork on the left side. The rear of the house features a single-storey, 20th-century pantiled addition and a lean-to outshut. The interior reveals timber framing of small scantling, including through tension braces and axial binding beams. The first floor was not inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
