Description
Nos. 22 and 24 on High Street are two dwellings and an office built in the early 19th century, located on the site of a house from the 15th to 16th century, of which cellars and some internal walls are said to remain. The buildings are constructed of white brick with a slated roof and stand two storeys tall. They feature four windows with inset sashes under flat stuccoed arches that have raised keys; No. 24 has 16-paned windows, while No. 22 has 12-paned windows. Each dwelling has an identical doorway with an original five-panel door and overlight. No. 22 also includes a contemporary 18-paned former shop window with an associated doorway that has a mid-20th century glazed door and the original overlight. The buildings have a two-bay return to Gracechurch Street and are included for their group value.
