Description
Blyth House is a house dating from the 16th to early 17th century, likely built in two phases. It features a timber frame, mostly plastered, with colourwashed brick on the right and red brick on the right gable end. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles. The house has two storeys and is fitted with casement windows, mostly from the mid-20th century. There are two internal stacks. At the rear, there is a single-storey colourwashed brick wing that was originally detached but is now connected by a mid-20th century entrance addition. The interior has been modernised, showcasing much exposed studding and several original windows with cavetto and diamond mullions. The hall and parlour have plain joists, and there is evidence of original service doorways, although the partition has been removed. It appears that the original service end has been enlarged, and the stack in this area was added later. The roof has not been examined but is likely from the 18th century.
