Description

Cleves Cottage, formerly known as Friars, is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century, though it may have an earlier core. The building has one storey and attics, featuring a two-cell lobby-entrance plan. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior. The roof is hipped and thatched, with an axial chimney; the chimney shaft is made of gault brick and dates from the early to mid-19th century, being octagonal with hollow faces. There are two 19th-century raking dormers and one 19th-century metal casement window with very small panes. Additionally, there is a 3-light small-pane casement window from the late 18th or early 19th century, along with a smaller casement window to the left that is from the later 19th century.
