Description
Church Farm House is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the mid to late 16th century and was extended in the 17th century. The building features a timber frame that is plastered, with a steeply pitched roof covered in plain tiles and pantiles. Originally, it likely consisted of two cells and was storeyed, with a parlour addition on the left, creating a three-cell cross passage plan. The house is two storeys high and has two part-glazed, part fielded panelled doors with simple surrounds and hoodboards. There are also two and three-light flush frame 19th-century casements. A rebuilt ridge stack is located between the hall and parlour bays. The gable ends display exposed plates and double purlins. The rear parlour addition is narrower, and there is a 19th-century lean-to outshut. Behind the cross passage is a glazed lean-to, and behind the service bay is another lean-to outshut with a catslide roof and an external stack that has a pantiled oven projection on the outer side. Inside, the hall features a double roll moulded axial binding beam and similar joists, while the framing elsewhere is concealed and has not been inspected.
