Description
Moat Lodge is a former farmhouse dating from the 16th century. It features a three-cell range with an additional wing to the northeast, creating an L-shaped plan. The building is timber framed and plastered, with some areas designed to imitate ashlar. It has a slated roof and stands two storeys high with an attic.
The main range includes small-paned casement windows from the mid-20th century and a wide gabled porch, also from the mid-20th century, which has a half-door. An internal stack has a rendered oblong shaft topped with a white brick cap. The north gable end of the main range and the side of the wing present a unified elevation: the first floor features three mid-19th century mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, while the ground floor has two flush-frame sash windows with glazing bars and two coupled non-opening casements to the left. The mid-20th century gabled porch leads to a six-panel door, and there is a gable stack to the left with a slender white brick shaft. At the rear, there is a three-light first floor window with diamond mullions. The interior has not been examined.
