Description
Hill Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse, with a slightly later wing added to the rear on the left side. It was renovated in the mid-20th century and a rear addition was built in 1962. The house is timber-framed and rendered, with a pantiled roof, and originally comprised three rooms. It has two storeys and an attic. The windows are mainly mid-20th century single-paned casements. There is a small, projecting one-storey addition to the left, and the stack has a mid-20th century axial shaft. A mid-20th century entrance has been added to the rear.
A section of the rear wall, now enclosed by a later lean-to, has original stippled plasterwork with a pargetted design of linked circles and semi-circles in square panels. This section also features two blocked ovolo-mullioned windows. Inside, the studding and floor joists in the main range are concealed, and a service partition has been removed. The hall fireplace was rebuilt in the mid-20th century. The newel stair has a lower flight that was rebuilt in the 19th century. The upper ceiling of the rear wing has plain joists set flat. The roof over the main range has two rows of stepped diminished butt purlins.
