Description
Badley Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with significant alterations made in the 17th and 19th centuries. The building has two storeys and features a timber frame that is pebble-dashed on the east side and encased in 19th-century red brick, which is now painted, on the west side. The roof is mainly covered with concrete plain tiles, although some sections have old clay plain tiles. There is a 16th or 17th-century axial chimney made of red brick, along with a 20th-century chimney. The windows are 19th and 20th-century small-pane casements, and the entrance doors, which are half-glazed and panelled, are located in the gable end.
The house has a late 16th-century core with plain exposed framing and features a large open fireplace with a cambered lintel in the hall. Extensions from the 17th and 18th centuries enlarged the parlour at the south end and added extra service rooms at the north end. An early 19th-century parlour block, made of red brick and topped with a hipped plain-tiled roof, was also added.
