Description
Nos 25 to 29 on Buttermarket is a former timber-framed and plastered building, likely dating from the 17th century. It features a return front on Dial Lane, part of which has a jettied upper storey. The building was refronted in the 18th century and altered in the 20th century. It has two storeys with a four-window range on the Buttermarket side and a three-window range on Dial Lane. The Buttermarket windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, while those on Dial Lane have single vertical glazing bars. The outer windows on Buttermarket are three-light, and the centre windows are paired. The ground floor contains 20th-century shops. The Dial Lane return front has a late 19th or early 20th-century Art Nouveau shop front. The roofs are tiled and feature a modillion cornice. Nos 21 to 41 form a group with Nos 18 to 30.
