Description
Seckford Hospital, built in 1840 by James Noble based on designs by C R Cockerell, is a notable example of 19th-century architecture. The building features a symmetrical layout with central and end gabled pavilions connected by cloistered links at the ground floor. Constructed from red brick with yellow brick dressings, including quoins and pilasters, it stands two storeys high. The roof is tiled and has a parapet with a stone coping. The flank pavilions are adorned with shaped gables that include round windows. The windows are recessed mullion transom casements, and there is a pointed arched entrance with a case, along with obtuse angled arches in the cloisters.
