Description
Holly Lodge is an 18th-century, two-story building with an additional ground floor, originally timber-framed and subsequently plastered with early 19th-century brick, painted. A decorative band runs horizontally across the facade. It has a slate roof with wide eaves soffits. The windows are a mix of pointed arched casements and sash windows with glazing bars. A brick porch with steps leads up to the ground floor, featuring a modern door. The east-facing elevation has three windows, and a lower wing extends to the south. The building occupied an important position and was occupied in the early 19th century by William Martin, an educational author who wrote under the pseudonym Peter Barley.
