Description
The Slade is a house built in the mid or late 18th century. It has two storeys and is constructed of red brick, featuring a string course at the first floor and a cornice at the base of the parapet. The roof is pantiled, with internal and gable chimneys made of red brick, and a parapet gable at the right-hand end. The windows have flat arches made of gauged brick and are fitted with small-pane 20th-century casements that imitate sash windows. The entrance door is six-panelled and includes a semi-circular fanlight with radiating bars, topped by a broken pediment on console brackets. The house has a three-cell plan with a rear outshut, making it an unusually late example of this traditional layout. It was formerly known as Ivydene and is indicated as such on maps.
