Description
The Lion Inn is a public house located on the south side of Thoroughfare, dating back to the early 17th century, although it was noted to be "old in 1604". The building is two storeys high with an attic and features two small dormers at the rear. It has a timber frame with plastering, a coved cornice, and a brick plinth, topped with tiles. There are four windows with mullion transom casements. The entrance includes two six-panel doors, with the upper panels replaced by modern glass. One of the doors, located on the right, is adorned with heavy carved consoles and a cornice hood that supports a sculptured lion. There is a modern wing and a lean-to at the rear of the building. The Lion Inn is part of a group that includes Nos 40 to 44 (even), 52 to 84 (even), and 90 to 94 (even).
