Description
Norfolk House is an early 18th-century building located on the north side of the thoroughfare, constructed in 1852. It stands three stories tall with projecting wings on both the left and right, each one window wide. There is a door leading to No 73, which features a modern brick bay to the right of the entrance. The building is made of red brick and has slate roofing, with stucco bands at the first and second floors. A wooden cornice adorns the central block, while the wings have stone coping at the lower level.
The façade includes three sash windows, mostly with glazing bars and flat arches, except for the central first-floor window, which is a segmental arch leading to a French window with a wrought iron balustrade on the balcony. The entrance features a six-panel door set in a case with panelled reveals, pilasters, and a frieze, with the balcony acting as a cornice supported by brackets. No 73 is complemented by a slightly set-back one-window front that matches the wings and is likely of a later date.
Norfolk House is part of a group that includes Nos 63 to 83 (odd).
