Description
Friston Hall is a building originally constructed in the late 17th century for Sir Henry Johnson. Only part of the original structure remains, with alterations and additions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is made of brick and has a slated roof, and it stands two storeys high.
The oldest section features a range of four windows, which are sash windows with glazing bars set in flush frames and topped with segmental arches. There is a string course at the first floor level, and the eaves are supported by wooden brackets. The lower edge of the roof has decorative boarding, and there is a chimney with grouped stacks and a hipped roof.
To the west, there is an 18th-century wing that matches the original style, featuring a two-window range and a doorway flanked by pilasters and an entablature. The entrance has a six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, and is topped by a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. To the north, there is a lower two-storey extension from the 19th century.
