Description
Works House is a pair of houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from yellow brick and feature a slate roof, with a double span pantiled roof at the rear. The buildings rise to three storeys and are adorned with brick pilasters that extend from the first floor to the parapet. These pilasters have stone bases and are topped with semi-circular, four-faced cast iron ornamental finial blocks above the parapet. There are stone bands at the first floor level and below the parapet.
The houses have a four-window range, with sash windows that include glazing bars set in flush frames, each with wooden hood moulds. The central doorways are paired and feature 8-panel doors that are recessed under an entablature supported by three wooden Tuscan columns, which are flanked by pilasters. Each doorway has a narrow side light and an oblong plain fanlight above. The first floor windows above the doors are coupled under a single frieze and cornice that is supported by four pilasters. There is a single-storey wing on the right-hand side.
