Description
School Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600, built in two closely-dated phases. It has two storeys and attics, featuring a timber-framed structure that is mainly rendered, with colour-washed brick on the ground floor to the north-east and a brick lean-to at one end. The roof is covered with black glazed pantiles. The layout is in a three-cell form, and there is an internal chimney stack with a plain rebuilt red brick shaft. To the right of the stack, the roof level is slightly lower. The farmhouse has various 20th-century three-light casement windows and a cross window in the attic. The main beam is exposed only on the ground floor, showcasing a 3-inch chamfer and stepped stops. To the left of the stack, there is a slightly later section with a cross-entry that is still in use, featuring one main beam with a 2-inch chamfer and stepped stops, while the remaining timbers are covered. The house is oriented sideways to the road.
