Description
Old Hall is a former manor house built in the mid to late 16th century for Edward Hemings. It has undergone considerable alterations, including a two-storey extension to the east. The building is constructed of red brick, mostly colourwashed, with part of the rear plastered. The roof is covered with modern concrete pantiles and the house stands three storeys tall.
Most of the windows are small pane casements, but the east wall features one original six-light window with a rusticated plaster surround. The north gable end retains its original crowstepped design, which includes a blocked attic window with a moulded brick head, a blocked circular opening above it, and part of the moulded brick head of an original ground floor window. The south gable end was rebuilt in the mid-19th century using yellow-white brick and includes sash windows with glazing bars and flat brick arches. There is a doorway with a six-panel door that has raised and fielded panels, along with a rectangular fanlight. The Bedingfield coat of arms is displayed at first floor level. Originally, there were two external stacks on the west side, but only one remains, and it has been partly rebuilt.
