Description

Kelsale Lodge is a farmhouse, likely dating to the 16th century, substantially remodelled in the 18th century, with a 20th-century extension to the east. The building has a double-pile plan. The core is timber-framed and clad in red brick, with a pantiled roof. It is two storeys high, plus a basement, and has a five-window front, arranged as a 2:1:2 pattern. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars in flush frames, each set within a segmental arch. The central window is larger and has a semi-circular head. A doorway features a six-panel door with raised and fielded panels, flanked by fluted pilasters and topped with a pediment containing a keystone. A bracketed wooden eaves cornice runs along the roofline. Internally, there is a good 18th-century staircase with turned balusters, and some oak panelling in one ground floor room.
