Description

A pair of cottages, originally one farmhouse, dating back to the 16th century. The structure is timber framed and has a plaintiled roof, rendered externally. The building is two storeys high with an attic. The front has two entrances with six-panel doors, one with sunken panels and one with flush panels revealing the outline of a former ogee-headed porch. A 3-light casement window from the 19th century is positioned to the far right, with tripartite sash windows centrally and to the left. Four 19th century metal-framed casements are on the first floor. Stacks of two flues rise from the ridge, the one on the right having been rebuilt in 20th century brick. The left-hand gable end has blank walling on both ground and first floors, with a 3-light attic window. The right-hand gable end features a 3-light metal-framed ground floor window and a 2-light and a single-light attic window. A slightly recessed wing includes a stable door and a 2-light window, with a corresponding 2-light window on the first floor. Inside, the ground floor room of the left-hand cottage exhibits richly moulded beams and joists, with angle beads.
