Description
The Feathers Inn is a public house located on Felixstowe High Street in Walton. It has a core that dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with later encasement from the 18th century and extensions from the 19th century. The building is timber framed, with a combination of plaster and brick casing, and features a plain tile roof in an L shape. The main range includes a lobby entrance and the building is two storeys high. There are three 3-light casement windows, with those on the ground floor having vertically boarded shutters. The building also has two 20th-century doors. Inside, the ground floor bar showcases a heavily moulded and embattled cambered tie beam, an elaborately moulded post, and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, all dating to around 1500 and likely reused but integral to the structure. There is no access to the upper floor or the rear wing.
