Description
The Church of All Saints is a Grade II* listed building located on Crag Farm Road in Sudbourne. It dates back to the 14th century and underwent significant restoration in 1879, during which transepts were added. The church features a 14th-century tower topped with a slender spire that is covered in lead, and a nave also from the 14th century. The exterior is constructed of random flint and ashlar, with knapped flint, and includes 15th-century windows. There is a blocked Norman door on the south side of the nave and a 14th-century north porch. Inside, the church contains a 17th-century pulpit adorned with richly carved panels and a single hammer beam roof from the late 19th century. A notable feature is a large alabaster monument dedicated to Sir Michael Stanhope, depicting him with his kneeling wife and children. The font, dating to around 1200, is a large cauldron bowl supported by four shafts with moulded capitals.
