Description
The Round House is a lodge built in the early 19th century, with 20th-century additions. It is constructed of rubble flint with white brick dressings and features a thatched roof. The building has an octagonal single-storey plan, with a flat-roofed rectangular addition at the rear. The entrance side has a gabled porch supported by spur walls that end in demi-Tuscan pillars on brick and flint plinths. These pillars hold up a pedimental gablet with white brick edging. The other sides of the building each have a central two-light casement window with a pointed arch and Y-tracery, surrounded by quoins of white brick at the corners and around the windows. The conical thatched roof rises to a central octagonal chimney shaft that slightly flares at the top. The 20th-century addition is attached to the octagonal face farthest from the road, featuring colourwashed, rendered walls and a felted roof.
