Description

Toad Hall is a house dating from the mid-16th century, with alterations made in the early 17th century. It is two storeys high. The house has a timber-frame construction, now plastered and decorated with 20th-century pargetting in large panels. The roof is tiled, with internal chimneys built of red brick. Windows are 19th and 20th-century casements. A 20th-century boarded door provides access at the rear. The central core of the house, dating to the mid-16th century, features large upper floor timbers, arch-braced close-studwork, and an unmoulded crownpost roof. To the east is a lower, wider section of similar date, built at a different stage. An early 17th-century parlour extension is located at the west end. Behind the hall and parlour chimney stands a gabled staircase tower of the same date.
