Description

This is a timber-framed and plastered building dating from the 16th to 17th centuries, with cross wings at the north and south ends. It is located on the east side of High Street in Bildeston. The centre block and the ground storey of the south cross wing are faced with painted brick. A single-storey lean-to addition extends from the south end. The north cross wing features a jettied upper storey with exposed timber framing, including one curved bracket with a moulded capital and shaft. The facade has five windows, a mix of double-hung sashes and casements. At the north end are two 19th-century shop bays with glazing bars and a central entrance. The roof is tiled, with a coved plaster eaves cornice extending across the south cross wing gable and the south end. Central chimney stacks are present. An eastern wing extends from the south end of the building.
