Description

Nos 96 and 98 High Street are a timber-framed and plastered building, likely dating from the 17th century, but significantly altered in the 18th century when the roof was raised. The building is two storeys and has attics. The upper storey features a three-window arrangement of double-hung sash windows with single vertical glazing bars. The ground storey has a 19th-century former bay shop window on the south end, and an 18th-century bay with glazing bars and a moulded cornice on the north end. There are twin central doorways. The roof is tiled, with a double pitch and gables on the south side. A moulded wooden eaves cornice with modillions extends across the front, positioned approximately 2 feet below the current eaves level.
