Description
Benton End House is a 16th century building that has been altered over time. It is two storeys high with attics, constructed from timber framing and plaster, and has tiled roofs. The front of the house has been significantly modified and includes features from the 18th century. It has three gabled attic dormers and a three-window range with flush frame sash windows. The upper storey projects slightly, and there are large, shouldered chimneys at both ends. The central doorcase is topped with a flat hood supported by scroll brackets. At the north end of the front, there is an octagonal brick pier with a pointed cap. The east wing features a brick gable with octagonal flank piers, coping, and a chimney stack that has two octagonal shafts with moulded bases. The timber framing is exposed, and some areas have brick nogging. The interior includes notable features, and the architect is said to be Sir Peter Cheyney.
