Description

Higham Hall is a house located on Higham Road, dating from the early 19th century, with a rear range that is 17th century or earlier. The front range is built of white brick, with part of the rear being pebbledashed and the rest in red brick laid in English bond, with the inner face pebbledashed and the outer wall rendered. The building has a slate roof and features a two-storey front range with an attic, consisting of five bays, while the slightly lower rear range forms an L-plan to the right.

The front range has an entrance and window bays set within a two-storey arcade, which includes impost bands supporting segment arches made of gauged brick. There is a central Doric porch, and the windows are sashes with glazing bars, set in reveals with sills beneath cambered gauged brick arches. The central three bays are topped with a pediment, and there is a six-pane sash window in the attic. The roof is hipped and overhanging, with wooden bracketed eaves and a pair of dormers featuring sashes. Corniced stacks are present as well.

The earlier rear range has a plinth on its back wall and includes a two-storey, likely early 19th-century pilastered bow with 16-pane sashes and an overhanging hipped roof. The interior of the early range does not show any features from before the 19th century. Higham Hall is situated next to the church of St Mary, at a distance from the village center.
