Description
Great Waldingfield Barn Malting is an early 15th century timber-framed and plastered hall house with wings at both the north and south ends. The north wing dates from the 16th century and was later converted into a barn with a small maltings attached. The south wing, originating from the 17th century, features a jettied upper storey supported by curved brackets, which still show remnants of carved shafts and capitals on the outer brackets. The building has two storeys, with windows that are a mix of double-hung sashes and casements. The roof is tiled, and there is a diagonally shafted chimney stack on the south wing. Inside, the structure reveals exposed timber-framing, along with an original braced beam and crown post.
