Description

The White House is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house located at the corner of Church Street and Park Street in Stoke-by-Nayland. It was refronted in the 18th century. The building features two gables on the front, with a large gable at the south-east end and a smaller one at the north-west end. It has two storeys and a four-window range, consisting of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The central part of the house includes a notable 18th-century double fronted shopfront with glazing bars, where one window has 32 panes and another has 16 panes. There are also two four-panel doors with rectangular fanlights, and a moulded wood cornice extends across the shopfront. The roof is tiled.
