Description
The Three Horseshoes Inn and the adjoining tenement is a building located on Stow's Hill in Cockfield. The cottage to the south was originally a medieval hall house, which had a floor and a chimney stack added in the 16th to 17th centuries. The northern part, now known as the Three Horseshoes Inn, was likely added in the 17th century. The building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a thatched roof and two storeys. It has small modern casement windows and a ridge chimney stack with two diagonal shafts on a square base. Inside, there are exposed timber-framing, ceiling beams, and joists. The southern part includes a cambered braced tie beam with a crown post and smoke blackened roof timbers.
