Description

This is a two-storey house, originally an inn, dating from 1649. Its construction is timber-framed and plastered, with tiled roofs. The building comprises a main block and two cross wings, one to the north and one to the south. The main block features a central gable projecting from shaped brackets, and decorative bargeboards with a pointed finial. A carved bressumer displays the date 'A 1649' and initials. The ground floor of the main block has a central entrance, added at a later date, with a small, matching modern gable. The cross wings have projecting upper storeys supported by shaped brackets. All gables feature decorative bargeboards and pointed finials. All windows and doors are modern replacements. The building forms a group with numbers 96 to 130 (even) along High Street.
