Description

Assington House is an 18th-century timber-framed and plastered house located on Colchester Road in Assington. The south front is faced with Suffolk gault brick and features a parapet with a brick dentil course. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a seven-window range, consisting of double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in shallow reveals. The entrance includes a six-panel door topped by a semi-circular fanlight with ornamental glazing, framed by a wooden doorcase with pilasters and an open pediment, which has been restored in the 20th century. The roof is hipped and tiled, featuring three flat-headed dormers. Inside, there is an 18th-century fire surround.
