Description

The Ship and Star Inn is likely of 17th and 18th century origin. It is a two-storey building with attics and a tiled roof. The building is constructed of a combination of plastered timber framing and brick. The eastern section is of one storey and includes an attic dormer, with the ground floor being lower than street level. The windows are mainly flush frame mullion transom casements, with the ground floor featuring flush panelled shutters. There is one entrance with a four-panel door within a wooden case, and a recessed entrance leading to the lower level on the left. Part of the front wall of this eastern section is made of flint and rubble and probably incorporates a section of the former Priory precinct wall.
