Description

These buildings, numbered 24 to 27 Gainsborough Street, likely date to the 17th or 18th century and are timber-framed structures with plastered walls and tiled roofs. Numbers 24 and 25 have a symmetrical three-window facade featuring double-hung sash windows. Numbers 26 and 27 are positioned at the west end and incorporate a three-light casement window on the first floor, alongside a wooden shop front with pilasters and a central entrance. Number 24 retains a small, former ground floor shop window characterized by thick glazing bars. Numbers 24 and 25 have been rendered, lined, and painted, with old tiles visible where the rafters are exposed at the eaves. Numbers 26 and 27 are finished with pebble-dash rendering up to a stone coping, and have a machine tile roof. These buildings are included on the list for their group value alongside other nearby properties.
