Description
Sturgeons Hall is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house located on the west side of The Green in Hartest. It features a cross wing at the south end and has undergone alterations and additions in the 18th and 19th centuries. The cross wing is two storeys with attics, while the main block is one storey with attics. The gable of the cross wing juts out on shaped brackets and has an embattled bressummer. The ground floor windows are mostly double-hung sashes with glazing bars, and the first storey and attic windows are casements. The roofs are covered with slate. At the north end, there is a 19th-century addition that includes one gabled dormer, and the main block has two gabled dormers. Notably, the main block has a fine 17th-century chimney stack featuring four grouped octagonal shafts with spur caps set on a square base.
