Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church that dates back to the 12th century, with significant alterations made in 1893 by Herbert Green. The building features a combination of broken pebble flint and some erratic stones, with red brick dressings and a plain tiled roof. It has a round west tower, a small nave, and an apsidal chancel. The 12th-century round tower includes an added octagonal bell stage with stone dressings and a plain parapet. The tower has plain two-light bell openings that have been renewed in brick, along with stone hood moulds. The west window, which is in the style of the 14th century, has also been renewed with cusping.

The nave and chancel, constructed in 1893, consist of a small nave approximately 4.2 meters long. The south side of the nave features a Y tracery window to the left in brick with a stone hood mould, and a plain pointed doorway to the right. A similar window is found on the north side, which has an added vestry that is rendered and scored, along with brick dressings and a plain brick pointed doorway. The apsidal chancel is topped with a high parapet that has stone dressings and includes two small stone-dressed lancets.

Inside, the tower arch is made of undressed broken flint. The earlier church was demolished in 1597 when the parish was united with Intwood, leaving the tower and the west nave wall to be incorporated into the church built in 1893.
